Hollow platinum-gold and palladium-gold nanoparticles: synthesis and characterization of composition-structure relationship

Abstract Hollow palladium-gold (PdAu) and platinum-gold (PtAu) alloy nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesized through galvanic replacement reactions. PdAu NPs denoted PdAu-99.99 PdAu-98 produced using palladium precursors with different purity degree: Na 2 PdCl 4 ≥ 99.99% 98%, respectively. The effect of the addition time gold precursor solution on size generated was evaluated. Two types particles, a rough smooth surface, identified in suspensions PtAu by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission (TEM), (STEM). atomic percentage gold, platinum, palladium, cobalt (atomic %) determined energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). (26–42 nm) contain Pt (41 at%), Au (36 Co (23 at%). groups hollow (30–50 residual content produced. consisted Pd (68 (26 (6 whereas composed (70 (22 (8 structure confirmed EDX line scanning. Selected area diffraction analysis (SAED) revealed formation alloys it used estimating lattice parameters, too.
